Indie-hip-hop label Mello Music Group (Oddisee, Apollo Brown, Diamond District) is single-handedly holding down the world when it comes to "real" hip-hop, and with the latest release from their label, yU and Slimkat's (The 1978ers) People of Today, we've another shining example of their flawless release record. The 1978ers is the pair of yU (raps) and Slimkat (beats), and although this is their official debut album together, it's not the first time they've collaborated. Regardless, we think the eighteen-track body of work here is definitely some of the best we've heard from them, and with it, yU and Slimkat are more than able to uphold their status as a hip-hop heads' saving grace.
