The 1975

You (Sebastian Carter Edition)

The 1975 makes music that seems to work very well with the remix process, and so we've seen (and covered) our fair share of reworks by the Manchester-based band. However, the number of successful house remixes is substantially less, and it's hard to find one that flows well while still keeping the integrity of the original intact. The voice of front man, Matt Healy, is still featured very prominently in this version here, and it's a welcome song element, because too often, remixes squander the extra depth and magic that vocals can add to the song. While this track isn't quite as dance-centric as Sebastian's other work, there is a ton going on here, and it pulls in a lot of new styles that we haven't seen as much of in past work. It's nice to see that he's developing as an artist, and while we're still fans of his earlier work, this new direction is something that will appeal to a very wide audience, really helping to get his name out there to ever-larger groups of fans. The download of his remix is free, too, so make sure to grab it if you're looking for something with familiar lyrics to jam out to while yearning also for a fresh new sound to liven things up.
