Entering the sonic globe fairly recently, beatmaker Tenru displayed a distinctive outlook on chillwave with “The Way She Moves” a few months ago, and now, he’s further fortifying his sound with an ever-sprouting piece entitled “Reflect”. The Perth native had us draw comparisons to several well-renowned acts (Nujabes and Bonobo, to name a couple), and with his new piece here, it's fair to say his future in the chillwave scene looks luminous as ever. If there’s one particular aspect of David Jones’ (Tenru) work that emerges, it’s the temperament of the pieces itself, as they have an ever-growing essence and seem to gradually perforate with frequent listens. “Reflect” is a product of exquisite sampling and palatable drumwork, and with the addition of slow-moving, variegated synths, the undertone is more than cordial. There is an undeniable anesthetic nature embedded in the piece, too, and the chord progressions employed meld gorgeously with the mesmerizing, nostalgia-inducing vocal cuts. We're digging it all, and we think you fans of lighter-cast electronic will as well.
