Tennyson — With You

Tennyson

With You

The name "Tennyson" should ring bells for those of you who have been on the site in the past year, and specifically, in the electronic section. Luke, the one individual we know for sure has been behind the moniker (keep reading), has intrigued us time and time again with his wide-ranging sound, and now, as a flood of pictures suggest, he's taken on the talents of his sister, Tess, to help uplift the Tennyson sound. Now, to be perfectly honest, we're not sure if this is a new occurrence or not (her having joined him for Tennyson's artistic endeavors), but on the back of this new effort of theirs we're hearing today, "With You", we really don't care, and would rather like to hear them work continually and always together. Now, to put things a bit into perspective, know that Luke and Tess are both virtuosic jazz musicians (they've already got a two jazz CDs out), and also that their tracks' intrigue comes from a variety of places. Sampling unconventional sounds to brand their records (iPhone clicks and cat purrs make subtle cameos in "With You") is nothing new for the two, but, truly, it's the duo's melodies and harmonies that set them apart from the pack. Their tunes are as whimsical as they are touching, and "With You" is a good example of their unparalleled and extraordinarily unconventional songwriting style. In a time when a new and excellent acts seems to pop up every day, this is a good thing (it keeps everyone on their toes with regard to what to expect), and surely, Tennyson is one of the few acts that doesn't only stand out from the crowd—but utterly and absolutely alone. "With You" will be released alongside B-side "Lay-by" on the forthcoming With You 7" vinyl. It's limited to 500 copies, so make sure you get on that ASAP. Pre-order here.
