We hate how repetitive we sound calling brother-sister duo Tennyson "creative", "awe-inspiring", "unique", and/or anything along the line of those words. They're positive, glowing, and extremely accurate indications of the people they are and sounds they make, but they're almost mundane-seeming now, as they've been killing their craft now for so, so long. Unfortunately, we can't just make up some word that goes beyond those above to describe them, so, like their sound, we've got to get a little experimental to reflect how we feel. That's the work of true art, though, is it not? The shit's a bit of a mess when done honestly and right. You might be wondering what of theirs brings out such words from us, and that cause would be their brand-new EP, Like What, that the siblings have today put out. It's a work that spans six ingenious, atypical tracks, and, again, we're sort of at a loss for how best describe them all. The first, title track on it is some combination of wet and sad, but then takes a vibe-y reversal into a more upbeat space. The second track, "Fault Line", meanwhile, is video game-themed, sprightly as hell, and vocal-featuring, and, after that, we're cast into an extremely smooth, jazzy affair. After that, "Too Long" provides a mature, enchanting sound, "L'oiseau qui danse" gets all fusion-y, and "Beautiful World", the final track, puts us in a brilliant, light-filled dream. That last bit is, perhaps, the most emotional on the entire EP, and it really rounds out well the incredible body of work. Expect to see it on many year-end lists, but expect the unexpected when it comes to seeing how it's described. Almost anything with a positive connotation is fair game.
