It's easy to say that all Australian electronic sounds the same, but it's as easy to appreciate the fact. When an artistic export such as it is so widely imitated, you know something's right regarding it, and though one may tire of the all the bright synths and perversed vocals within, that's not the artists' fault, but our own. If we're so sucked into a sound that we grow to dislike, what's that say about the amount of times we gave it a chance? The point is that more of the same is not always more monotony, and Sydney's upcoming electronic specialist, TDY, has proven that the case with his latest jam, "Motion". "Motion" begins as many tracks within the genre do, with stretched synths and tightly knit vocal clips, but nothing is done in excess, and we're pretty impressed by how the 17-year-old set the tone so mildly. We didn't have to turn up or down our volume to enjoy all the slight dynamics embedded within the effort, nor did we find ourselves wishing for more or less depth throughout. TDY seems to have known all he wanted to do with the track, and it shows; decided bass blares and myriad electrical elements articulate the core of the 2:40 runtime (which turns out to be the perfect length), and every bit complements each other quite incredibly. Seeing that it's only the Aussie's eighth publicly released effort, too, leads us to believe that he's on the uptick in terms of artistic appeal, so if "Motion" is any indication of things to come from him, we might be in for one of Australia's most sought-after sounds.
