Prior to the release of "Waiting" two weeks ago, it had been nearly a year since we'd last heard anything from TAPES. It dismayed us a bit, because his two works we had stumbled upon earlier, Weapons and Infinity, reeked of promise and a flashy electronic sound we couldn't stop playing. Fortunately, we've found him to have been working on his upcoming debut album, Finding, and from it, we're proud to premiere the opening track, "Crowns", today. If you're at all familiar with the sound of the up-and-comer's, you'll know that he's a propensity for uniquely euphoric, upbeat atmospheres in his work. With bright, effervescent synths, precisely chopped vocals, and pulsating kicks, TAPES expresses his sound, and the casual rounds of electronic glee that come forth as a result really work to instill an attitude of positivity in all who listen. It's a bit of a shame, therefore, that his effort here lasts a mere two minutes, but it is two minutes we enjoy, no doubt, and it's enough time to get a good sense of the broader sound Finding partakes in. While we wait for that one to come out on the 15th of next month, though, we'll be partaking ourselves in TAPES' latest sonic optimism sound as conveyed on "Crowns", and we invite you to do the same.
