Coming across a unique and electrifying debut single is every music blogger's dream, and boy have we hit the jackpot here with "Tethered Bones"! Talos is the moniker for the man responsible for the enthusiasm, and though we know he hails from Cork, Ireland, not much else is known about the artist. All his social media platforms are bare, having only recently been created, but that's sure to change as we predict this track will leave the entire musical community begging for more. Fans of dark and soulful electronica from the likes of SOHN and Black Atlass will find an instant familiarity with "Tethered Bones". The muted ticking of electronic percussion ushers in the exquisite vocal stylings of Talos as the track hits all the notes of the aforementioned influences. What separates this effort from mere imitation, though, is the ability of Talos to play with expectation and convention. As the track progresses and the background synths begin to swell, we're poised to expect some form of breakdown of epic proportion. What we are given, however, is an absolutely inspired, stripped-back pop interlude before returning to the regularly scheduled program, and it's this playful tactic that elevates the track from great, to extraordinary.
