TĀLĀ has been one of the most pleasant surprises of the year. She debuted her first song, "The Duchess", about seven months ago, and now, several thousands of plays later, she's well-established as one of the best upcoming artists out. As one of the few female vocalists and producers that we hear from, too, the London-based act has been maintaining a fantastic sound with each release, and her newest one here, "Everybody's Free", stays true to this trend. Now, if we wouldn't have been told that TĀLĀ is reworking a cover of Quindon Tarver's song that appeared in Romeo + Juliet, we would've had absolutely no idea that this is the case. However, this piece of information displays TĀLĀ's remarkable creativity and ambition regarding her sample selection, and we're dumbfounded by her ability to transform the original into something entirely new and utterly brilliant. She makes use of many different shades of synths, percussion, and bass in her interpretation, and almost necessarily, we're chalking the piece up as another victory for her.
