TĀLĀ — Black Scorpio

TĀLĀ

Black Scorpio

TĀLĀ’s warping, distinguishable elegance in both vocal ability and production was blatant on her debut EP, Duchess, and though it's only been three months since the release of the stupendous piece of work, she’s already got us looking forward to her next project—one that will involve her latest tease here entitled “Black Scorpio”. The starless title almost gives away the piece’s identity, but when haven’t we been stupefied by the volatile nature of the London-based act’s work? Again, we're thrust into electronic eccentricity, as the shadowy, piercing undercurrents on the track see themselves governed by exceptionally rallied vocals and contorting croons throughout. It’s certainly the poised demeanor portrayed on “Black Scorpio" that sets it apart from TĀLĀ's earliest work, and with the sudden inclusions of resplendent chords and echoed vocals amongst the dim-lit backdrop, the piece both signifies the unique roots she sticks to, and gives a lot to look forward to on the aforementioned, upcoming EP. To be sure, TĀLĀ utilizes chant-like voices to amplify the kicks employed, and, as the bass-heavy notes maneuver through the inky ambiance, elated synthwork and break-filled patterns slide in abruptly, establishing an unrivaled and overwhelming form of alternative-electronic TĀLĀ makes so well. Be on the lookout for TĀLĀ sophomore EP coming soon.
