There are names that are ubiquitous, and there are those that ought to be, but aren't quite. Ta-ku's falls into the latter category, for now, but he's not to blame. Aside from the expanding niche of avant-garde sound supporters, there aren't a whole lot of individuals in tune with the offerings of innovative audio architects like Ta-ku. And though we can make a multitude of inferences from that fact, that's not the point. What we've got to do is take the responsible route as the audible consumers we are, which is to say, appreciate the unique and impassioned creations we come across, since we know that others will not. Fortunately for us, Ta-ku makes it very, very easy to fall in love with whatever sonic concoction(s) he creates, (and there have been many). I can't begin to count the number of projects he's put together, nor can I conceive the amount of singles bled from his innovational mind that I've not enjoyed, and that's a true testament to the consistenty of his work. With every output of Ta-ku's, I expect quality, and quality I receive, every time, without fail; it's a feat of unprecedented, favorable impression. I love it. I also love the concepts he comes up with within his works, namely, the recent nine-track audio affair of his entitled Songs To Break Up To. According to the HW&W label from which it saw release, the efforts involved on the EP served a very distinct purpose: [do action="manual-block-quote"]This particular EP is revolved around those feelings flung in a love relationship, and each of the tracks emphasize those moods. You’ll find a slight melancholic tone in the songs, though the beats and effects are still banging. If you are going through tough times in your love life, this EP is perfect for you. Love is in the air.[/do] And, from what transpirations the artist and his affiliates have chosen to share via social media, it's apparent that feelings aren't the only entities being flung from relationships. I mean, you knew that with a project entitled Songs To Break Up To, and with an artist packing as much emotional introspection into his sound as Ta-ku, that there would indeed be breakups. (And I would here like to give a quick S/O to the guys and girls affected in any negative way by the vibes exuding from the emotionally turbulent tracks; we really feel for y'all.) But heartbreak aside, STBUT, really does stand out as an achieving sonic, and dare I say soulful, artifact. It's elemental incorporations are wide-ranging, from synths and samplings, to features and more, and as many feelings flaunt the work as instrumental nuances. Together, they legitimize Ta-ku's efforts to entail the anatomy of the breakup, and, with an array of vibrant aural colors, he paints successfully a picture of love, loss, and every stage of emotional sound in between.
