France’s remarkable taste for electronic-laced hip-hop is certainly evident amongst the premier beatmakers based in Paris, and the swiftly ascending Stwo drops yet another syrupy, chillwave gem to illustrate our observation. With subtle, vintage samples in most of his work, the Parisian has made a deep crevasse in the newly formed genre, and he's inspired a ton of other forward-thinking producers with his unique take on this form of electronic. “Aura” is startlingly one of the few wholly unchaperoned pieces of work he's dropped, and, not too unexpectedly, it induces the sultriest of vibes from start to finish. Vocal cuts are far from foreign in chillwave, but it’s the deftness and execution of them that help a producer emerge, and Stwo has certainly portrayed his established sound on “Aura” with highly provocative, pitch-shifting slices. The drum work always seems to shine on the Frenchman’s work, and this time's no different; he's his usually break-filled employed pattern and hard-hitting, decaying kicks to give an incredibly impactful first drop, and the instrumentation and synth usage are more than sublime on the piece, too, with chimes, re-emulated piano synths, and several little percussive additions fusing flawlessly with those mentioned cuts. "Aura" evolves further on the second drop, with huge snare and hat inclusions, generating what you'd call a classic, fantastic Stwo-like beat.
