Last February we came across the unassuming sounds of Melbourne three-piece Stonefox. Their debut single, “All I Want”, was a bare indie-folk ballad that forwent any form of bombast in favor of a minimal aesthetic. Essentially, just Jenna Russo’s delicate voice with slight backing vocals and a reverb-laden guitar track upheld the track, and it was one strikingly beautiful in its simplicity. Now, as the trio begins to flesh out their debut EP, we are starting to witness the band come into their own. Their new single, “This City”, sees guitarist Tim Carroll and drummer Monica Spasaro take a prominent role in crafting the Stonefox sound, and their increased presence complements perfectly Russo’s gorgeous vocals throughout.
