Cheers ft. Awon

There's absolutely nothing fancy going on here; there's no flash, no facades, and no gimmicks. What we have here is good, old-fashioned, hookless, hip-hop with more substance than pageantry, and more of a focus on the poetry than the "pop" in the lyrics. The first of the two individuals eliciting the aforementioned characteristics, SoulChef, crafts a beat that's almost utilitarian in its effectiveness as a rhythm delivery system, but still makes space for the softer sounds that really turn "Cheers" into the complete package. And with such a technical beat to work off of, Awon's lyrics get a massive head start, achieving that effortless roll which the greats, like Jurassic 5, were so revered for. There's really something beautiful about a track that stays in the wheelhouse and just kills the execution, and "Cheers" is definitely one of those tracks.
