What can we say about Sons et al. that hasn't already been said? Anyone who has been following this site for a while would have seen that our love for this Melbourne band is utterly conspicuous, yet here we are once again singing their praises. On March 14th Sons et al. will release their brand new EP, Godspeed, from which we have the pleasure of premiering "Day By Day" today. This latest offering is a deft demonstration of cohesive musicianship, a concerted concentration for crafting a unified body of work where each pop constituent acts to accentuate, rather than detract or overpower each other. The light throbbing of the bass and the soft guitar arrangements are amplified by the rolling percussion, all of which act as the ideal cradle to house the sustained vocal harmonies of lead singer, Nick Acquroff. It's a beautiful track, and further proof to substantiate our claim that Sons et al. is one of the best in the game right now. The past six months have seen Sons et al. absolutely kill with their release of A-list singles such as "Wayward Feet" and "Misshaped Mouth", an arresting remix by Jordan Burns, and also Acquroff's lent vocals to Chiefs' smash "Stay"; and it's not just us who think so. The Sons have been accumulating a gathering of loyal followers from their native Australia to North America and everywhere in between. (A particularly special shout out goes out here to one exceptional fan, everyone's favourite Japanese robot, Honsai Jnr, that created a particularly remarkable remix of "Misshaped Mouth".) Having said all of this, there are still a few of you out there who have yet to experience the prodigious indie-pop sounds of Sons et al., and we will continue to do our best to change that. In addition to our continual coverage of all the incredible music they've released, we're also giving the good people of Toronto a chance to see this band live as they were announced as an integral part of our first ever Candian Music Week Showcase in May.
