SonReal has been carrying that "up and coming" label for quite some time now, so with the release of Good News, that lingering curiosity that was left over from The Lightyear & Where's Waldo, is ready to be answered once again. While Good News is not considered an album, it sure does sounds like one. Regardless of what you label this project, it has good music behind it, so I guess for the listener, we shouldn't care. SonReal's sharp songwriting really shines on Good News and shows that rare combination of hip-hop with pop-sensibilities. After Good News sinks in, the question may still remain from the on lookers but to people who have been listening for awhile, it is very clear that this guy continues to get better — so sure, go ahead and give him whatever label you want because we don't see the top of the mountain yet.
