We're massive fans of artists who aren't afraid to express themselves on the sonic front, and while it's a feat that's not the easiest to execute "successfully" (not everything people create is going to be liked), French talent Smogy more than leaves an impressive mark on latest project Down. The seven-piece body of work is quite a statement for an artist with almost no exposure, as Maugan Kenward (Smogy) boast high levels of quality on both production and vocal fronts. Two cuts in particular stood out on the project to us, the first being the silky, ambient, and hazy "Above", and the second being "Slide", which is unlike any other track from him to this point. The Frenchman hits distinctive timbres throughout, and he injects a whole lot of soulful electronic as a result.
