Irish pop duo Slow Skies first caught the attention of the music blogosphere about a year ago with "On the Shore", a tranquil, intimate ballad featuring the immaculate vocals of Skies' vocalist Karen Sheridan. Now, they've returned with "Ice Field", a relaxed, quietly beautiful number that follows in the same vein as the former track. Utilizing resonant guitars and mellow, spacious drums, Sheridan and her creative better half create a compelling sound that is more meditative than simply atmospheric. It's sparse and lovely like the Irish coast itself, and we think "Ice Field" is a step in the right direction for Slow Skies—and a treat for the rest of us.
