Slow Magic — Bear Dance

Slow Magic

Bear Dance

Slow Magic is another masked electronic musician who's attached little-to-no-information to his identity. He's elected to let the music speak for itself (an action we'll always admire and appreciate here at HD), and that fact has seen the producer rise to a successful career, even with only one full-length album under his belt. If you've enjoyed his efforts thus far, too, you'll be pleased to hear that his second full-length, How to Run Away, is good news for his career as well as his fans. The production on the album is as manicured as it is eclectic, shifting smoothly between tracks like the playful-yet-chilled styles of "Waited for U", to the lurching beat and side-chained synth-infusions in "Manhattan". While impressive overall, How to Run Away finds its strongest moments in the loping nu-disco of "Bears", and the pulsating, trap-tinged banger, "Closer", which appropriately finishes out the album. Heavily relying on vocal samples and chilled instrumentals throughout has allowed Slow Magic to create his own unique brand of electronic, blending future beats, old-school synths, and ambient textures to create a lush, distinctive sound. How to Run Away really evidences this fact, and it stands as an engaging, highly enjoyable listen, as well as a step in the right direction for the enigmatic but incredibly talented producer. You can stream all of How To Run Away over at the Hype Machine right now, or you can pre-order the album via iTunes. It will be released on September 9th.
