SKOGSRÅ — Now You See Me

SKOGSRÅ

Now You See Me

Skogsrå's latest track has been out for a couple of weeks now, but it's been doing so well, and the sound is so good, that we had to give it some coverage to make sure none of you HD readers out there missed it. Now, truth be told, this could actually be considered two tracks smashed together with a very sophisticated transition section, but because it's just got one title, it gets one review. The first part of "Now You See Me" is an electronic dance/funk mashup, and the bounce in the basslines meshes perfectly with the fuzzy vintage vocals, providing a nice depth to the composition. However, that's not where the song ends up as the last notes wind down. If Skogsrå had brought the song full circle, it would still be an impressive effort, but at about 3:40, the track transitions from old-school funk to a much more anthemic structure, with wide, sweeping chord progressions, and subsequent transition in quality from good to great. Its run-time is a bit longer than normal, but all that extra music makes for a richer listening experience, and the added levels of sound work together to make something truly special.
