Amidst a bombardment of phenomenal music today, we came across yet another absolutely stunning track. SKIES, a brand-new duo from Adelaide, Australia, and comprised of Micah Cearns and Lee Jones, debuted their very first song, "Flames", a week ago, and it presents about as much promise as possible in a first release. The song begins in a chilling manner, presenting a stripped-down set of echoed electronic percussion and haunting vocals, but only for a while. After a tense moment of sonic confusion, the song morphs into a blissful electronic melody, complete with smooth bass, an ethereal falsetto, and bright percussion. The rest of the song is a bit of a balancing act between the two aforementioned vibes, but it's safe to say that they've done an outstanding job of meshing the separate moods.
