The aural landscapes that Oakland producer, Shortcircles, creates on his debut album, Between Waves, are absolutely breathtaking. If you just simply skim through the album you won't find the hidden treasures that are beneath each song. For instance on "Patience", things start out pretty minimal and downtempo, but when the synth-driven chorus hits, the feelings you get from this outburst of melody shoot you into whole new state of listening pleasure. (The part hits you at 1:56). Thankfully for the patience-less listeners out there, you don't have to wait around that long as on one of the standout tracks, "Tunnels", only takes 40 seconds for the song to take off and from there is just gets better and better. Especially when the hi-pitched synth flutes come in. We suggest you start with our two favorites below then when you're done with those, head on over to itunes to purchase the album.
