Over the past six months, we have seen the name Shivum Sharma flicker around the peripheries of the blogging community; fleeting moments that seemed to capture the attention of some had appeared, while others were left questioning where they knew the name from. Back in the middle of 2013, the enigmatic 18-year-old Londoner released a bedroom demo of "Flicker" that featured nothing other than a wispy piano track and his stirring vocals. Those with a particularly good ear, however, would have also heard Sharma lending his soulful croon to Manchester producer TCTS for his killer track "These Heights". It is now time for him to step firmly into the spotlight, though, as we are introduced to the final version of "Flicker", the lead single from his upcoming debut EP. With the help of Warp Records producer, Kwes, Shivum Sharma has brought new life to this single whilst still retaining the emotive efficacy of the original bedroom recording. The minimal percussion and subtle atmospheric tones underscore the real revelation that is the power of Shivum's voice. It's a beautiful single that he enacts, doubling as an adequate introduction to a young artist we can't wait to hear more from. Shivum Sharma's debut EP, Flicker, will be out March 3rd on National Anthem.
