Shiloh burst onto the scene fairly recently, and their sound is far from foreign to us, especially because we’ve already spoiled our ears to several productions from UK-based Daktyl (one half of the duo), and thoroughly relished the pastel-like vocals of Arbour member, JJ Draper. “Morning” is the third track from the freshly teamed-up act’s upcoming EP , and it’s a real beaut, as it incorporates a luscious miscellany of future sounds while also embedding JJ’s vocal vocals in pristine fashion. If this is the first time you’ve ever come across Shiloh’s work, you would be certainly baffled to find out that their debut project, Venus Sway, only took a week to concoct. “Morning” serves as an ideal track to inaugurate your ears to the duo’s distinct blend of chillwave and rich vocal delivery, however, and with droning, perforating chord progressions igniting the piece, the floor is polished for Draper’s vocals to slide in and cruise through beside some rather sedating kicks. Daktyl takes the stage on the drop, kindling it with two gentle snare rolls, and then employing a nifty, dulcet vocal cut, some signature touches on the percussion, and an ever-evolving drum sequence. The beat is maneuverered impeccably by Daktyl, and JJ steps in at appropriate times to give the piece its overall character, which is one that emits sweet-sounding ethereal vibes.
