The last time we reported on the workings of Canadian indie-pop band Seoul, our review of their “White Morning” was inclusive of just about the highest praise we’ve to offer. They’ve impressed us again and again, with each bit of music they've brought to the surface heading toward simple sonic perfection while externally putting forth a sound that’s rather fluent and indicative of a supreme grasp on the art they purvey. It's no shock that they've wowed us again with their latest effort entitled “The Line”, and the next chapter of their sound is one we're going to be keeping close for the foreseeable future here. The intricacy found in their song is one that has us upping our volume to soak it all in, leaving our jaws hanging at its eccentric depiction indie-pop utilizes synths that are wholly out of this world (and not in a hard-hitting way, either). There’s a breath of fresh air that encompasses the track, too, as even when it finds its climax, we find ourselves basking in a potent sense of chill that relaxes satisfactorily. Seoul has really done it here—they’ve once again boasted their prowess while not trying too hard, and their music continues to truly speak for itself. "The Line" is the first hint at what's to come from Seoul's debut album, I Become A Shade, out June 9, but be careful not to get too caught up in the effort here (it's quite the challenge not to), as they've left room for much more greatness to come.
