SBMRGE has seen himself and his work surface a couple of times on the site, remixing a London Grammar track and offering his own original piece as well, but recently, the Melbourne teen delivered his first EP in the form of Masked through Pilerats Records, and it's about as engaging as emotional instrumental music can get. We're tempted to classify the three-track EP as emo-electronic, but because of the connotations involved, we'll refer to it as "sentimental" as well. Masked is every ounce of the word, with it's brooding builds and synths that seem to suspend eternally in space, and as soon as you start to familiarize yourself with the serious energy involved, you come to terms with the other, more intricate sounds involved. Myriad instrumentations emerge throughout Masked, and each of the subtleties come to shape the EP into a dampening, but bewitching affair.
