Coming off quite an eminent five-month old debut EP, Boston-based beatmaker Samuel Proffitt returns with another Khai-assisted piece entitled "Never The Same". It's almost been a year since the two stirred up a heavy dose of sentiments through the hypnotizing number, "Sladky", and they've seemed to pick up exactly where they left off here. You can almost never go wrong with falsetto-laced vocals, but to emerge recognizably is no simple feat, as Khai does so here, delivering dolefully toned, excessively poignant words. Proffitt coheres gorgeously on the production end, too, utilizing soft keys and warmly lit drum work beside him. The overall result is one that exudes a sunless sonic climate, no doubt, and you're going to find that there's nothing at all to shy away from on the effort.
