In his previous songs, Samm Henshaw goes with more of an approach leaning toward Southern blues. New track "Autonomy" is an exception, however. Within it, he adds new components to his music to give it a more widely accessible feel, including a rap verse and also a relatively faster beat. The song itself feels more powerful juxtaposed to his last few tracks, and, surely, its short, coherent guitar riffs, dynamic piano stroke, and powerful, resonating drums all support well his new direction. Despite the changes in his overall sound, Samm Henshaw does not disappoint with his singing at all. His ability to shift between keys is limitless and adds more value to the overall aesthetics of his sound, and what soulful, textured voice of his we've come to love is still very apparent here.
