It appears that there's an infinite number of bands that just pop up out of nowhere with a few quality songs that evolve into an EP over time, and we absolutely love this widespread wave of upcoming groups and material from them. Salt Cathedral is one such group that appeared about a year ago, and if you've a keen memory, you might remember that we posted a couple songs from their self-titled EP. Ever since, the Brooklyn-based five-piece has dropped off a few songs, but the group's newest release, "Tease", is one that can't be ignored. A set of twinkling chimes gives the song a spacey sonic scene, especially overtop the electronic percussion and vocal chants. However, these chimes are pulled away for the first verse and replaced by some pumping bass and deep synths, twisting the song into a toe-tapping, definitely danceable offering. The remainder of the piece contains several nuances and slight tweaks that keep it fresh throughout, ultimately resulting in a work of electro-pop that deviates from the norm (but not from its infectious nature). We're happy to see Salt Cathedral back on their game, in any event, and we hope to hear more similarly engaging efforts in the near future.
