Every living person faces some sort of unforeseen setback at least once in their life. What differentiates us is how we react to the situation and what we take away from it. For Californian artist Danny McCook (Saint Mesa), a series of unexplained hospitalizations left him with free time on his hands, yet, instead of succumbing to frustration, he began developing the blueprints of what would become his debut EP. Eventually, Danny found his way to health and a positive outlook on life, and he began to flesh out the aforementioned musical skeletons to create, among other things, his enigmatic and awesome debut track, “Jungle”. Kicking off with curious percussive samples, "Jungle" immediately captures your attention and keeps it with ease. Even the song structure, itself, is a journey, as it breaks momentum with a jovial jaunt in the final act before its operatic closing corral. It is particularly this focus on crafting quality composition that sets Saint Mesa on a bright musical road ahead (and allows the track here to be as good as it is), and we hope his focus and skill continues throughout his Jungle EP, which is set for release in the coming months. Listen to the track below, and, if you're in the Los Angeles area, be sure to catch Saint Mesa playing his debut show October 24. (You'll be able to find information for that HERE.)
