There’s a whole lot of freshness tied into German producer and DJ Mechatok’s latest release, “Fallin'"—whether with the artist himself, or the seemingly disco-rooted synths that he puts out. We note that the newcomer is only 17, too—a fact that easily impresses—and also that the hype surrounding his first release is enough to suggest that he’ll become a hot topic as time goes on. So far, his mixes have earned him a spot in the ranks of Paris label B.YRSLF DIVISION and sister WIDAD Records, and quickly he'll be finding a spot on your playlists, too. In “Fallin’,” the first fresh sound we hear is a synth that, in itself, time-machines us back a few decades to the era of disco (though the rest of the track keeps us right in the present). As for the grandiose vocals, Mechatok has sampled Sadie Ama’s “Falling”, of course, inserting his electronic notes alongside her warm tone. We’re further captivated by the steady cymbal-centric percussion and watery synth pops that develop in the latter half of the track, and are quite easily engaged throughout. We’ve the notion that “Fallin’” is a slice of Timur Tokdemir’s (Mechatok) forthcoming EP (a body of work that will be released by WIDAD), and we simply cannot wait for that to drop. The young German has taken but a single release to prove his music is way beyond par, and we’re, ourselves, seriously hooked on it.
