We're accustomed to hearing Sable's synth-heavy sound on every work his name is attached to, so suffice it to say we were taken aback when we saw his collaboration with Bloc Party vocalist and solo act Kele Okereke as part of Jack Daniels and Pilerats' freshly inaugurated "Future Legends" series. However unlikely the pairing up appears on paper, though, "The One" indeed tells of a sonic success, as Kele is able to flex his dexterous tone on top of blinking chords, shivering synths, and understated, later-appearing horns provided by the Perth producer. We're particularly attracted to the song's serendipitous feel—it's happy clash of electronic and alternative-spiked pop—and as long as future works from the series retain an intrigue similar to the kind here expressed, we're going to have a lot of fresh material to marvel over in the next couple of months.
