It's good to see Basenji back in the sonic swing of things, and doubly refreshing to see Sable's sound weaved into the former's first official single we've the pleasure of premiering here. The two have accrued some kind of signifcance over the past year, and with their ever-magnetic electronic productions, it's no surprise why. Their sound's a red-hot commodity right now, and with the warm weather right around the corner, it's reasonable to assume their tracks will be receiving oodles of club and outdoors plays. You just can't refuse that bright bounce both employ; and as we see again with Basenji's remix of Sable's recently released "Foolin'" from his Feels So Good EP, there's no reason you'd ever want to. Equally as electric as Sable's original track, Basenji has decided to extensively modify, rather than completely transplant, the vibes of the former on his own sparked interpretation. It's an intelligent move on his behalf (as it was the initially existing high-octane energy on the that had us [and many others] before engaged), but where Sable refused to let his foot off the electrical gas, Basenji makes sure to brake when necessary (which isn't especially often, but still). We enjoy the slightly more blissful approach Basenji's worked into his own effort, and the fact that he's still retained all the big-sounding synth chords he wants is really just testament to his talent as an artist. There's nothing much missing from the highs and (relative) lows of track's sonic trajectory (which is really no surprise), and aside from the roller coaster-ride of sprightly, ever-alive sounds spread within the remix, we're rewarded with a "syrupy" auto-tuned outro that has us grinning ear to ear.
