We first came across Australian artist RUEL this year when he featured his vocals on M-Phazes' “Golden Years”. At the time, however, we were unaware of just how incredible the story of Ruel is. After hearing a demo tape that was sent to him two years ago, M-Phazes has taken a mentorship role in the development of his career, and that mentorship has led to this point: the release of his debut single at the tender age of fourteen. Now, while all that above sinks in, you should also know that this debut release was originally penned when RUEL was only twelve years old, which, after listening to the lyricism on display, is astonishing and confounding equally. Featuring stomping production from M-Phazes, himself, the single lays the melodic foundation for the soulful croon this impressive young artist wields with ease. With this striking voice and lyrical content well beyond his years, RUEL certainly proves he’s a prodigious talent, and the scary thing is that he is only just getting started.
