Royce Wood Junior is an all-around exceptional musician, but perhaps his most remarkable quality is his prowess when it comes to production. About a month ago, we posted his single, "Rover", which was a mind-boggling collection of experimental electronic sounds, and today, he's back with a mellower work that we're digging just as much. "Valentine Virus Part II (Ode to Prod)" is the type of song that can turn loneliness into warmness, and darkness into tranquility. The foundation is a fairly simple beat, but deep, heart-felt piano chords and a sanguine chime constantly make themselves heard. Ross Hutchinson, an artist previously unknown to us, lends his soft croon to the track, and it provides just the right touch to solidify the song as phenomenal.
