Reva DeVito's new single, "Kisses", is going to win you over not because it's super avant-garde, or because it has some unique mix of sounds you would have never thought of putting together, but because it's executed well, and grabs you in much the same way a lot of R&B classics do. There's a relaxed warmth to the track that comes with the relative lack of echo in the beat, almost as if you're hearing it being played in some small coffee shop, but it's the "tomorrow-can-wait" pacing that really lands this one in the comfortable category. Hit play, and you're instantly transported to somewhere else less hectic (where ever that may be for you) while the natural rasp in Reva's voice blends in perfectly with the melody, and the music meanders towards the finish line, managing to perfectly balance some old-school funk with just that little bit of modern indie-electronic production work to keep you listening for more.
