Retro Culture has quietly made a name for himself releasing unique, consistently appealing pop music over the past year. From tracks like "Weekend", you would assume the singer-songwriter would stick to his romantically laced electronic-pop, but as his newest track, "Digital", suggests, you don't want to pigeonhole Matt Connelly (Retro Culture), because there's no box for the Aussie's sound. "Digital" is called as such for good reason, as there's a plethora of electronic-based synths employed throughout the effort. The track's backed by more than inorganic sounds, though, and we find some auto-tune applied on his vocals midway through the track. Normally, such harmonics injure a track, but on "Digital", the auto-tune is applied artistically (rather than manipulatively to correct pitch [cheating]) so we're OK with it. And, it's to be noted that the effort is not in any sense what you would expect, so taking a few listens to it will likely be your best bet, because once you lets the track sink in, we think you're going to dig it.
