Yes we know we have sorely neglected reggae for a good amount of time on HD. I apologize to all our readers who used to find reggae here all the time. The truth is the genre has really been stale in my opinion for a long time. This could be from my lack of motivation to search it out, or simply due to the fact that there is such a lack of good new reggae artists coming out these days. You are always going to have great reggae/rock bands/artists that have been doing it for awhile (Dirty Heads, Slighty Stoopid, Expendables, Pepper...etc) But honestly how often are these bands staying relevant these days with the current mode of the music industry gearing more towards singles? I am saying this because nowadays I only get to write about reggae when albums get released, so it definitely seems like the genre is kind of moving slowly along. That being said, today I am here to slightly contradict what I just said. Weird? Well not really because I am ok with being wrong. This might only be a blip on that statement but at least it might spark up some curiosity for new reggae artists again. I am talking about the UK based reggae band, Resonators, who capture everything that is great about reggae music. They released their sophomore album, The Constant, back in November of 2012 The Constant showcases everything we love about reggae/dub music. It's great vocals, with grooving melodies that perfectly emulate that classic sound of '70's roots rock reggae. Of course there is the modern twist thrown in there.
