Upon first hearing RÉN’s “Time”, we knew we had a quintessential indie-pop hit on our hands, but with the release of the visuals for the track, we’ve a new perspective of the track that we can't say we expected. “Time” is the embodiment of a number of typical pop sounds, and whether the guitar riffs or vocals are more prevalent at a given time, they’ve both a lasting effect on the sound. The visuals, however, contain a multitude of psychedelic elements that leave us with an unexpectedly unique composite of the track, and we enjoy the fresh look they give. Throughout the video, we’re led into multiple visual landscapes that are inclusive of both slow-motion video, and stop-motion style photography that’s often contorted to a point where even we aren’t too sure what’s going on (we kind of like it that way). The Brooklyn-rooted singer-songwriter makes prominent appearances throughout, though she never appears in a normal light. There’s always something more, whether a gleaming background sequence, or mirrored image effect, and we simply have found ourselves watching it over and over again to soak it all in.
