About four months ago, we witnessed a small, but impressive burst of electronic-pop talent from Nashville, Tennessee, and one of the most exciting artists to come out of the commotion was Remmi. The singer and producer has only released one song thus far, "Capable", which was included in a particularly fruitful compilation called Nashville Indie Spotlight, but that track alone was enough to get us seriously excited about her work yet to come. We can confirm that her debut EP is on the way, and today, she's dropping off the first brilliant single from it, "Star Spangled". The track's opening showcases Remmi's passionate vocals atop piano keys and a soft soundscape, but a little over a minute into the piece, a powerful drum beat summons an invigorating wave of electronic and bass. While she croons, "I just want to be happy", it sounds as if something's restricting her; however, we get the sense that she finally breaks free from that restraint during the two sonic eruptions that occur throughout the affair. On top of being a great track on its own, "Star Spangled" is here to prepare you for Remmi's forthcoming EP which is set for release sometime within the year. For now, however, stream the latest piece of hers below to get ready for more to come.
