The FADER commented on it, and ELEVATOR noted it as well, but we're really enjoying the sonic dichotomy of REI AMI. On her last two singles (including "DICTATOR" here), she's presented both rapper and bedroom artist personas, while, impressively, infusing each into each of the songs. While not unheard of, this stylistic choice is fairly uncommon, and, here, REI pulls it off without a fault. It doesn't seem forced or manufactured, and it seems to reflect the varied, compelling nature she has.
