In the fast-moving internet age of music consumption, rarely do we find the patience for something new that goes outside the norms of our usual prospective tastes. Today, we suggest you go against your own and expand a bit to explore the fascinating lo-fi, indie-pop of the Ohio-based singer/producer, Redw00d, and his new five-track collection, VARSITY. Once you dive into this you'll be met with a plethora of sonic textures, head-spinning melodies, clap-happy percussion hits, and of course, the lo-fi vocals; all of these different elements add up giving you a unique taste on a genre that you may not normally consider yourself a fan of. Perhaps what has us intrigued the most here is the addictive grooves Redw00d sets within his music. On tracks like "When You Feel Alright" and "Lonesome Blues", they are impossible to ignore. Sure, they're not what you're used to, but that's the point. Make sure you give "Lonesome Blues" some additional time, too, because once it hits its two-minute mark, you'll see what we're talking about. You can stream the rest of the EP on SoundCloud, or you can listen to our aforementioned highlights below.
