Real Cosby — Laika

Real Cosby

Laika

I had taken a train from my hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan to San Francisco two summers ago, and was able to enjoy a slew of stops alongside the national scenery. It was the second or third day of the trip that we traveled into Denver, and after having navigated through some of the mountains inherent to the state's landscape, I was eager to step outside the transportive confines and into the refreshing atmosphere of an unfamiliar city. There was an abundance of artists keeping me company throughout my visual endeavors, though, I hadn't any geographically relevant individuals to appreciate while reveling in the city's delight. (I've always made it a point to honor the cities I'm in by playing music birthed from the location.) Almost a year-and-a-half later, and I've finally a creative expressionist from Denver to keep on tap for future Colorado travels. Real Cosby is the name of the producer and co-founder of the independent label and collective shoeboxx recordings whom I was just now introduced to, and his "Laika" instrumental, appearing on the first volume of the aforementioned label, has got me all heated for not having heard of the creator some eighteen months earlier. There's an unmistakbly soothing element to the effort, and absolutely restorative downtempo R&B is as much a part of the sound as the mellow acoustical triumphs the track offers. It's an alleviating listen, without question, and is assured to quash whatever stresses you're currently experiencing.
