It’s not easy to make a name for yourself in music, let alone as a 16-year-old singer-songwriter. Here we’ve a sure exception to the norm, however, with RAYE, who's certainly South London’s fastest rising young talent. With her second release, “Hotbox,” ("Need Me" was the first) we’re again wooed by her extravagant abilities; her fresh R&B effort is inclusive of a multitude of alluring elements that foster a whispery, attractive tone that's helped RAYE plant herself firmly in a soulful niche. A recipe of soft-touched percussion and clever piano keystrokes is what’s to be applauded most on the track, and, of course, the vocals of the truly commendable young talent aren't too bad, either. “Hotbox” is wholly deserving of the attention it will receive in all respects, and especially knowing that it’s among the first of many more efforts to come, we’ll be sure to be the first to report to you the additional tracks necessitating our praise.
