You haven't yet heard of BANNERS, but now that you have, you're going to want to add the name to your wanted list for the year. This Liverpudlian artist is a vocalist of the first order, and his songwriting skills have simply wowed us with his ability to conjure up the kind of emotions normally only accessible during some sort of heartbreak. There's something very Chris Martin-esque about the way he arranges music, and the chorus he employs is both uplifting and melancholy in much the same way that tracks like "Talk" and "The Scientist" were in their day. The pacing is slow on this one, but that's to be expected from an effort like "Ghosts". If RAINES is going to make waves as a singer-songwriter, then this is the type of debut single that will turn enough heads to get his foot firmly planted behind the door. As always, we'll reserve final judgement about his prospects as an artist until we hear a larger body of work, but for now, consider us fans, and make sure you give this one a full listen though. There's always time in the day for great music, and "Ghosts" is definitely just that.
