The indie-alternative has been a very saturated place. Sadly, there are countless bands that hold true to a tasteless and generic sound, but, of course, there are a few breaking through the monotony, and up-and-coming four-piece raener is definitely one. Their passionate, hard-hitting debut, "time", and synth-infused follow-up, "miles 2", possess incredibly resonate and dreamy sounds that are anything but typical. It's been a few months since we last heard impressive material from them, but, surely, their new single, "why", signifies their coming back to a form we love. Although innovation is always appreciated, an artist does not necessarily need to revamp their sound to achieve and maintain quality. That has been the case with the LA-based quartet, as their every effort progresses through similarly, but leaves enough room for originality and character. This track is no exception to that, and their minimal synths and grimy guitar riffs intertwining with hard-hitting drums and powerful vocals provide for a sensual, greatly genre-bending tune.
