Every so often, you come across a piece of music that inexplicably feels larger than it is, and such is the sentiment had when listening to the latest release from Macclesfield five-piece, Racing Glaciers. Although only their third EP, Don't Wait For Me boasts such confident grandiose that you genuinely get the electrifying feeling that comes from experiencing a band who is on the verge of blowing up. From their self-titled EP (released in 2012), we have seen the band grow from their post-folk roots into a fledgling force of indie-rock with the release of "New Country", the first single from their sophomore Ahead Of You Forever EP. Swiftly building on their new sound, we were delivered their boldest entry to date with the release of "First Light", the lead single from their latest EP, and with its anthemic percussion and rousing horn section, Racing Glaciers again proved their sonic worth. The other tracks on the EP demonstrate, too, that they are well-rounded musicians, and the tender balladry of title track "Don't Wait For Me", the spirited two and a half minute jam session outro to "Carry It On", and, especially, their second single, "Animal", truly displays their intentions of greatness. The catchy pop lyrics of the track soar over the colossal beat pulsing through the three-minute epic, and it's no question that the sound is arena-ready through and through. The Glaciers quintet has just spent the summer gracing the stages of some of Europe's finest festivals such as The Great Escape, Strawberry Fields, and Radio 1 Big Weekend, and we look forward to following the boys as their font size increases on the lineup posters—an inevitability with incredible releases such as this.
