We try to keep our hip-hop selections as tight as possible on the site, and that's because we know the genre is an extraordinarily fickle one as it relates to quality efforts within it. There are dozens of rap tracks that come out on a daily basis, and honestly, the majority of them suck. It's rare to come across any that have any real value as far as authenticity goes, and unfortunately, it's become more of a burden than a pleasure to sift through all the lyrical efforts offered. Every so often, though, we fall under the good graces of our tastemaking ancestors, and come across a piece (or a project) that captures our attention past the point of sarcasm, and with Propaganda's "How Did We Get Here", a standout track from his Crimson Cord album, we've just that. It's a cut highlighting impactful production, creative deliveries, and two greatly fitting guest features. Andy Mineo's gliding hooks separate verses from Propaganda and JGivens, illuminating either by way of contrasting cadences, and the dichotomy works well to lend depth to the track as whole. "How Did We Get Here" has significant replay value as a result, and if it gets you inspired to check out the rest of the album, you know it's done its job. Crimson Cord can be accessed HERE.
