Just over a week ago, we covered a track by Prinze George that had managed to escape major attention despite its effortless style and thorough indie-pop production work. It must have resonated with the majority of you readers, though, because after we covered it, it promptly rocketed to the top of The Hype Machine charts, and has accrued a play count well into the six-figures to date. It's always interesting to see songs that mysteriously get a second wind really take off and get the recognition they deserve. However, with this, their latest release, let's hope they don't have to wait long for the buzz to start building. "This Time" is a behemoth of a synth-pop track, and despite the fact that the vocals have been filtered through a bit, you can hear the natural range within them, as they pair perfectly with what the production work is trying to achieve. The whole song exhibits a good balance of electronic and analog, and it never tries too hard to mimic its contemporaries. Yes, it's most definitely pop, but it's self-assured despite being so accessible, and its authenticity is embracing.
