Prinze George captured lightning in a bottle with their surprise hit, "Victor", a few months ago, but it's probably time we stop bringing that up every time they release a new song, because the band has made it abundantly clear that they're not going to rest on their laurels. No, they have their sights set firmly on bigger and better things for the future, and, case in point is their newest song, "Don't Speak To Me". "Don't Speak To Me" is quite possibly their best offering yet, and if you had any doubts about PG's ability to compete with other major players in the world of indie-pop, then this song is going to lay those to rest. The track's uplifting, smart, a bit quirky, and, best of all, a really freaking fun listen, and it hooks us right from the get-go with a veritable sound potluck that features both acoustic guitar work, and bunch of cool beats that may or may not have drawn inspiration from the type of hip-hop and R&B that's popular at the moment. It's really a unique blend all together, and while we're not really sure what "Don't Speak To Me's" musical ancestry is, whatever it is, it's pure magic, and would be equally at home played live at the back of a dive bar, or in constant rotation on a national FM station. It's so awesome to see bands grow and progress as they continue to put out great music, and Prinze George is definitely a name that we've been following even more closely (and with baited breath, may we add) as they continue in their mission to take over the world of indie-pop realm they're helping build. With "DSTM" only being their fifth song, they still have a long road ahead of them—and there have been plenty of bands who have faltered much farther along in the process—but we think the effort here will most bring them new levels of recognition and a renewed sense of confidence that they are, in fact, heading in the right artistic directions.
